Yellow Jadeite Explained

Yellow jade is the most underrated color of jade, and is known for it's affordability compared to other colors of jadeite jade. Attainable and relatively inexpensive even in highly translucent qualities, yellow jade represents happiness and optimism.

Yellow jade and red jade are particularly special because they come from the rind of the jade boulder, meaning that yellow and red jade are both less common than other colors, and especially rare in high qualities.

These colors are caused by iron oxidation. When iron-bearing minerals in jade interact with oxygen over time, they form iron oxides, creating red, orange/yellow, or brown hues out the outer rind of the stone.
